Honoring and Supporting Those Who Have Served our Country
Beneficiaries:
Clifton Veterans Parade Committee: The purpose of the annual Clifton Veterans Day Parade is to honor those who have made sacrifices for our freedom and to prove to them that we are grateful for their service. Clifton is one of the few cities still conducting a parade because of the dedication of volunteers who raise the needed funds.
Clifton Cares: Since 2010, Clifton Cares has been assembling and mailing Christmas goodie boxes to Clifton military people serving around the world.
Clifton Avenue of Flags Committee: The Avenue of Flags in Clifton is a display of over 2,228 flags, each representing a veteran, 283 of which represent veterans killed in action. Each flag is on a ten-foot pole with a name plate of the veteran. The flags are displayed across from the City Hall complex. The flags are displayed on Memorial Day, Flag Day, the Fourth of July, Patriot Day, and Veterans Day. The flags are erected at dawn and removed at the end of the day.
Paramus Veteran Home: Funds were given to cover special need medical items not included in their budget. They are to be used with the residents at the Paramus Veteran Home.
Welcome Home Vets of NJ: Funds were given to Welcome Home Vets of NJ for their veteran emergency hotel program. They assist several hundred homeless veterans with hotel stays.
Homes For Veterans: Funds were given to Homes for Veterans, to support their veteran home modification program, focused on disabled veterans. This years funding will go to a disabled veterans home modification in Boonton NJ.
Operation Sisterhood: Funds were given to Operation Sisterhood who has a woman veteran program in Bergen County. They have a strong commitment in working with military trauma for the women veteran community.
NJ State Elks: Funds were given to The NJ State Elks to help support their homeless veteran furniture initiative.
Paterson Veterans Council: Funds were given to the Paterson Veteran Council for the upkeep of Veterans Park in Paterson on Memorial Day and Veterans Day.
Wreaths Across America: Funds were given to Wreaths Across America for Historic Jersey City and Harsimus Cemetery. The location of the cemetery was used as an ammunition bunker for the War of 1812 and was a site of skirmishes in 1780 during the Revolutionary War.
